Maitland James Thompson aka "Maitland James" Guitarist, Producer, Recording Engineer

In his quiet and spiritual resolve and as a devoted family man, husband and grandfather, Maitland's dedication comes out in his musicianship and professionalism. His humble qualities have brought him great musical possibilities in his life particularly on stage and in the recording studio either as a solo guitar player or in bands.

In the early seventies he studied and graduated from modertn harmony/composition through correspondence courses with Henry Moss from "The Berklee School of Music (Henry Moss Music Academy)" and further went on to perfect his guitar finger style and sight reading techniques at the "Chris Fox Guitar Institute" at Nirvana Beach in the Bahamas. Being such a musical perfectionist with a good ear, his passion directed him further into the world of recording engineering. He was mentored privately with the late Karl Pitterson who was the engineer/producer at the now world famous "Compass Point Studios" in New Providence Bahamas, the studio that made Reggae star Bob Marley famous. Maitland and Campbell have many fond memories to share regarding "Compass Point". He was also awarded a Diploma in Recording Engineerting from the "Audio Institute of America".

Maitland Thompson is and has been his whole life a full time professional musician active on stage and in the studio. In the early days he was a member of the band "Hot Stuff" and was mentored by the late Mr. Neville Sampson who was lead trumpeter in Al Hibbler's Band (lead singer in Duke Ellington's orchestra). Maitland also performed with the famous "Peanuts Taylor Drumbeat Club Orchestra" in the Bahamas and also with vocalist/flautist Herbie Edgecombe with the duet "Gemeni" opening the Cable Beach Hotel (currently called Melia Nassau Beach).
In the 80's and 90's, the list goes on: "Ginn", Chavaz" (accompanied the "Freddie Munnings Jr. Review") "All The Best things" at Sandals (formerly the Balmoral Beach Hotel), and the "Summer Breeze Band" (led by bassist Campbell Forbes) at the "Family Island Lounge". He later joined Campbell in the Netherlands gaining international performing experience mentoring guitarists in the "Bahamian/Calypso" style.

In more recent times he is a renowned Solo Artist at many of Nassau's top hotels and restaurants: Sapodilla, Bahamar, Atlantis, The One and Only Ocean Club and various elite private Bahamian functions. As an owner and Producer/CEO of "Baheuro Productions", Maitland has recorded and produced Cd's for leading artists in the Bahamas: Elon Moxey, Funky D, Gino D, Steel Pan Henry, and so on! Currently with the added advantages of our advances in modern technology, he is now producing music "on line" along with his long time music friend Campbell Forbes (songworiter/bassist), who is residing in Canada. Maitland's diplomatic, patient, friendly and professional way makes him one of the most sought after guitarists and studio engineer/mixer in the Bahamas.
